Welcome to HealthHacks! Please read these rules in THEIR ENTIRETY.
We’re excited to have you hack with us! Discord & Devpost are the main virtual environments of HealthHacks 2022, where you can ask organizers questions, talk to our sponsors, chat with other hackers, and more. All announcements will be made in the Discord server.
Before you can join the server, you must agree to the following rules:
-
Abide by the MLH Code of Conduct (https://static.mlh.io/docs/mlh-code-of-conduct.pdf). In other words, no harassment of any form will be tolerated, including but not limited to sexism, racism or hate speech.
-
No spamming or self-promotion outside of relevant channels, including DMing other members of the server. This includes server invites, event advertisements, and requests for work.
-
No NSFW content. This includes text, images, or links featuring nudity, sex, hard violence, or other graphically disturbing content. If we deem your nickname and/or profile picture to be inappropriate, we will ask you to change either or both of them.
-
Stay on topic. Keep each channel relevant to its purpose; any messages that dilute the channel’s purpose/content will be asked to be moved/removed.
If any of these rules are repeatedly broken, we will follow the typical MLH incidents procedure. To report if any of these rules are broken, please email contact@pennapps.com or DM one of the organizers.
In addition to Discord rules, we also have our competition rules!
- Participation: Participants must be full-time high school students, enrolled in grade 9-12 or the international equivalent.
- Prizes: All prizes are subject to University policies regarding cash and cash-equivalent prizes, including taxation where applicable.
- Submissions: Each team is permitted one submission that must be received by 7:30AM on Sunday, March 20th. All code must have been produced solely by team members after 6:00PM on Friday, March 18th. By submitting a project, you and your team grant the PennApps team and organizers the unrestricted right to use your submission material, at no cost, for promotional purposes of future PennApps events.
- Teams: Teams must consist of between two and four participants. Teams must be created on Devpost for submission and judging purposes.
- Demos: Demos take place in two rounds. Teams will rotate through Zoom rooms, each staffed with two judges, according to a preset schedule that will be shared prior to judging. Teams are expected to rotate and show up to judging on time or risk forfeiting their submission and any chances of winning a prize. Each demo will be conducted live over Zoom, and will be 7 minutes long with 3 minutes of Q&A. Minimum 5 minutes rotation/break time will be allotted.
- Judging: Judging will be based on four criteria: creativity, technical difficulty, polish, and usefulness, each scored on an 11 point scale. Penalties may be assessed for going over the allotted demo time.
- Tracks: Teams competing for tracks MUST indicate on their Devpost submission that they wish to be considered for a certain track. Teams are only permitted to submit to ONE track. Winners of tracks will be judged and announced separately at closing ceremony.
- Winners: Winners for the 1st through 3rd place prizes as well as Best Youth Hack, Popular Choice Award, and each track will be announced at the closing ceremony, with the 1st thru 3rd place teams being asked to give a final, 5-minute (no Q&A) demo to the audience.
